 The Snows of winter transforms the historic town of Sumpter into a winter wonderland and snowy playground for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, sledding and much more! The Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club grooms over 350 miles of breathtaking mountain snowmobile trails all winter and sponsors the popular Sumpter Poker Run each year on President's Day weekend. Our snowmobile club is the most popular club in Sumpter and Eastern Oregon! Members come from all over the Northwest and meet each month October through March. If you don't have a snowmobile, don't worry~ we have plenty of snowshoe and ski trails you can take from downtown Sumpter! The Sumpter Snowshoeing Club is looking for new members to enjoy the pristine winter wonderland here in Sumpter Oregon! If you enjoy Sumpter in the Summer, then you'll love Sumpter in the Winter! snowmobile? The winter peace and tranquility in Sumpter has to be experienced to be believed! Most local snowmobile trails are accessible from almost anywhere in Sumpter! But no worries, the state keeps our highway clear of snow and getting to town isn't too difficult and it is rare to have the highway closed due to snow. Our local city crew works hard to keep our own streets clear. A four-wheel vehicle with good snow tires is advised for living in Sumpter during the winter! |
